An apex device in the quest to get better Reception .
Back in the day- you could drive any suburban area of the country and see- midst the rooftops, a forest of TV antennae cresting a gable on most homes.
It was all about 'Reception'...
Good Reception was... good picture- and bad Reception was frustratingly daunting.
Down the line, Cable changed all that.
But at its zenith, this device was State of the Arts,... so to speak.
Plus- when gusty winds blew and the areial shifted- no longer did Dad have to climb up on the roof to re-set.
Nope. All ya had to do was twirl the knob- and this device shifted and aligned the rooftop antenna for you! By Remote!
Miracle!
The Alliance Rotor Tuner.
Hooked up to the exterior roof antenna, this baby could actually move the damn thing- and fiddling with it was a job for the stout of heart.
And this baby lights up!
Difficult to see in photos-
A clever little night-light.
Construct:
The case is of brown Bakelite.
The dial and etc are all plastic and metallic tapes.
Condition:Note: Apparently, there was an tiny Alliance logo plate originally attached to the front of the device.
Cord appears sturdy still - and in fact was plugged in to light the dial.
On the front, there remains evidence of shipping the taped marks the household used to mark off the hotspots in order to dial them up to improve reception.
Back then- the only channels available were 3, 6, 10 and PBS was 12.
Then a couple of UHF Stations, 17 and 29.
That's right.
About 6 stations.
Also note: This is an old piece of electronics- and in As Found condition.
All plugs and cords etc are aged.
The piece measures approximately 7 1/8" x 3 7/8" x 4 7/8" tall.
It's pretty great!
As a night light or light-up oddity-
It's all about ... Reception.
