This hand crocheted Afghan is made up of 225 individual motifs in muted shades of lilac, lavender, mulberry & cream. The design comprises 'Granny Squares' in a subtle design radiating out from the centre, the whole encompassed in a border of maroon & lilac. Made from a minimum of 50% upcycled acrylic, this easy care blanket has been washed (prior to despatch) on a wool cycle at 30 degrees, with a gentle spin & air dried. It is fully colour fast and reversible.

For more than 50 years I have recycled unwanted knitwear. First I wash the intact item, then I pull it out & wind it into skeins. It is then hand washed (to remove the 'crinkles').

The multi tonal effect, that is prevalent throughout my work, is achieved by combining 2 or more of the recycled yarns together, until I have a colour that I am happy with.

What started as a means of providing an extra income when I was a cash strapped student has evolved into a way of life, and I have lost count of the number of throws, jumpers, cardigans, toys & rugs that I have made using shipping this technique. Certainly, it is many hundreds! And, because the source items are inexpensive or donated, It also allows me to offer this item for a very reasonable rate...and free P & P within the UK!
