Art Deco 1930's Duette Brooch - Convertible Pin and Dress Clips - shipping Whitaker - Fielding Co., Oh so art deco this piece is two accessories in one Authentic classic.
shipping Oh so art deco, this piece is two accessories in one. Authentic classic Duette by one of the premiere findings manufacturers of its time, the Whitaker-Fielding Co. Rhodium plated metal with paste rhinestones. Easy to convert and remove clips, pinch back and slide out. Dress clips were very popular and used to draw attention to your decolletage and add elegance to a simple blouse. Would look beautiful in bridal look, as hair clips, belt clips, etc. Could be modernized into a third accessory as a pendant on a necklace.
In good vintage condition. Measures just over 2 3/4" long x 3/4 " wide as a pin. Each clip measures 1 3/8" long x 3/4" wide. Stones are clear and very sparkly, some are darkened, normal for age. There are no missing square cushion stones, however there a 5 small rounds missing at the ends of the clip, 3 on one side and 2 on the other. Still a beautiful and wearable representation of the time and style of the 1930's.
Marked patent No. 1945268, for the convertible pin back frame known as a Ornament Retaining Device by John Fielding in 1934. The utility Patent was also partial assigned to Joseph P. Whitaker both of Rhode Island. Clips are sturdy in the pin, each easily slides back in and clicks securely into place. Clip backed prongs are tight and hold well to fabric. Pin closure is secure with smooth movement. It is also unique it that the lever to close the pin is a reverse locking movement unlike today's pin closures. A nice collectible for the vintage costume jewelry lover in your life.
