The scarab beetle was sacred to the ancient Egyptians. Any one of any importance had a coat of arms or signet, which was used in business transactions instead of signatures. They would engrave them onto a piece of genuine stone that was carved in the shape of a beetle.

Scarab jewelry became popular in the 1950's-60's, mainly in the form of bracelets and watchbands. The materials used were clay, porcelain, glass, plastic and minerals of the earth, AKA as genuine stones. It was the genuine stone ones that were most popular, valued and sought after. They were set in plated brass, gold-filled, sterling silver and gold.

Since the 1960's, scarab jewelry has re-surfaced in popularity.

Today, we at DesignerScarabs, are proud to introduce scarabs shipping back into fashion with not only bracelets but also a variety of necklaces, earrings and pin sets.

Our scarabs are various genuine stones and are set in sterling silver. The scarabs are vintage, some dating to pre-WWII Germany and Italy where the best carvings were done. They are high-dome Cabochons.

All the sterling findings, links, settings and wire designs are crafted by us making our scarab jewelry truly unique to our shop.

We offer not only the standard multi-color jewelry but also solid colors. This is, once again, unique to our shop.
